The Reverend Canon H.W. Herrmann, SSC has served Saint David
of Wales
as Rector since August, 2006. Prior to
his call to the parish, he served as Rector of Saint Johns Church in Quincy, Illinois
for eleven years and coordinated rebuilding that historic church and former
Cathedral after it was struck by lightning in August, 2002 and burned
down. The now rebuilt “Historic Mother
Church” in the Diocese of Quincy is
one of the most beautiful churches in the Midwest. Canon Herrmann has also served parishes in Monroe, Louisiana, Willow Park, Texas and Arlington, Texas
after he graduated from Nashotah House Seminary in 1989 and where he now serves
as a Trustee on their Board. He has a
love for Jesus, children, the healing ministry, music and personal fitness,
including cycling and canoeing.
Canon Herrmann is a native of Flushing, New York
and worked in the Criminal Justice System and Private Security and
Investigation sectors before entering seminary.
He is a co-founder of a national renewal program for High School Youth
called Happening and was the first Rector of an Episcopal Happening in 1975 in Fort Worth, Texas. He has also attended three General
Conventions of the Episcopal Church and chaired the Diocese of Quincy
deputation in 2006 in Columbus,
Ohio. Canon Herrmann continues to serve the Church
in a variety of positions at the local, Diocesan, and National levels. He has also been a member of the Society of
the Holy Cross since 1990 and has been married to Ginger for 31 years. They have two married daughters, Jamie and
Meredith.
