Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMS) (1) administer the chalice at a celebration of the Holy Eucharist, (2) read the Holy Scriptures, (3) offer the prayers of the people and (4) assist the Rector in other liturgical functions.
Lay ministers are licensed by the diocese for a period of three years beginning with the first Sunday after Advent following application. LEMS function only under the direction of the Rector in charge of the congregation. Those desiring to serve in this capacity should contact the parish office.
At Saint David of Wales, the LEMS also serve as Lectors. Lectors are persons trained in the public reading of Scripture in the local congregation.
