It is the privilege and responsibility of Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMS) to administer the chalice at a celebration of the Holy Eucharist and to read the Holy Scriptures, offer the prayers of the people and assist the Rector in other liturgical functions.
LEMS are licensed by the diocese for a period of three years beginning with the first Sunday after Advent following application. LEMS function only under the direction of the Rector in charge of the congregation.
At Saint David of Wales, the LEMS also serve as Lectors. Lectors are persons trained in the public reading of Scripture in the local congregation.
